UCD School of Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering – 60th Anniversary Celebration!

On Friday November 18th – over 400 UCD graduates and friends entered O’Reilly Hall to celebrate 60 years of UCD Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering.  Having produced more than 1400 graduates since 1956, the UCD School of Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering is the largest and oldest of its kind in Ireland.

Callaghan Engineering was one of the event sponsors on the night and our Managing Director Donal O’Callaghan (Class of 1973) attended the event along with our Senior Process Engineers Emma McGillycuddy (Class of 2000) and Pedro Rivera (University of Oviedo Class of 1998).  There were representatives from classes covering the years 1957 to 2016, with some graduates travelling from as far apart as the USA, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines and all over Europe and Ireland.  The MC for the evening was Pat Kenny (Class of 1969). The Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering degree programme is accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and IChemE President Prof. Jonathan Seville attended the event which was hosted by Head of School, Prof. Eoin Casey.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of awards for Outstanding Contributions to Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering to Prof. John Kelly and Paddy O’Flynn both from graduating class of 1957.
