Tom Hurley

BEng, BSc (Hons) | Electrical Engineer

Upon completion of my BEng in Electrical Services Engineering and BSc in Electrical Services Engineering and Energy Management in Dublin Ireland. At the time of completing my undergraduate degrees, I wanted to gain experience working in diverse environments in the electrical design, electro-power technology and data centre industry. I joined Red in July 2016. Upon my successful application for the Graduate Electrical Engineer role at RED Engineering Design I am currently studying an MSc in Building Service Engineering in London Southbank University under REDs support and guidance.

Since I started working at RED I have had the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and prestigious projects in the UK and Europe. I have been involved in the design and delivery of a number of different projects including Data Centre’s ranging from large upgrade works in live facilities to green field sites. I have gained experience in developing the client brief, creating concept designs and expanding these to detailed design. I have hands on experience in developing schematics and specifications including items such as UPS, Generators, HV and LV Switchgear, transformers, HV and LV distribution systems, PMS, BMS and general electrical installation.

Whist working with RED I was encouraged to become a member of the IET. I have gained good site experience and I attend regular CPD’s hosted my RED. I look forward to completing my MSc and working towards my next step with RED towards my next goal of Chartered Engineer.
