Mark Gleeson

BEng BSc (Hons) MSc/PgDip CEng MIET | Senior Electrical Engineer 

I am currently working as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer at RED Engineering. During my time with RED, I have gained Chartered status, I received a Master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Systems at the London Southbank University. Prior to moving to the UK to take up my position with RED, I completed an honours Degree in Electrical Services Engineering and Energy Management at the Dublin Institute of Technology. Previous to this I completed a Bachelor of Engineering Technology Degree in Electrical Services Engineering, also at DIT. Before entering third level education I qualified and worked as an Electrician. I worked for Eight years in Ireland including working in Intel on the largest mission critical electrical site in Ireland.

Since starting with RED, I have worked in a number of sectors, primarily data centres. I have also worked in retail, commercial, residential, banking and hospitality. My duties include detailed design of electrical services, project management, site surveys, desktop analysis on a range of topics and business development. The combination of my skills as an electrician and my further education from degree Level to master’s level provides me with a rounded approach to project management and engineering solutions. A practical and theoretical background affords me a knowledge of the energy market from production and installation to the end user. This can be especially useful in communicating and promoting innovative sustainable technologies to clients and colleagues alike. I believe educating users on their energy usage is the key to driving change within all levels of business. As a Chartered Engineer I strive to deliver cost effective sustainable designs for a wide range of international projects on a daily basis.
