Our Engineering Services

Process, project, validation, environmental, &cGMP engineering

Callaghan Engineering has extensive experience and expertise in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical devices and healthcare sectors with a unique understanding of the processes involved. At the core of what we do, our key skills are to bring excellence and efficiency of design, operation and maintenance to the manufacturing process.

Piping design, instrumentation & control systems engineering

Fundamental to successful operation of a finished plant, piping design and controls systems engineering ensures the most cost effective & functionally efficient physical layout possible. Advanced controls systems combine maximum automation with accurate and granular control to constantly drive down operational and maintenance costs of the finished plant, while ensuring precise and efficient throughput.

Mechanical & electrical engineering

Fundamental to the successful operation of any facility, our Mechanical & Electrical Engineers have been drawn from the widest possible range of industry sectors to combine maximum experience with specific expertise. From event management to building controls, from providing detailed mechanical and electrical services to complex machine installations, we have the skill sets to service the project.

Fire protection, heating, ventilation & air conditioning design

Our Building Services Design arm has a focus on passive design using renewable energy combined with the best of current technology in the active management of heating and ventilation systems providing design excellence that results in measurable reductions in enery costs.

Project & construction management

Planning, organising, and managing resources to maximise efficiency and minimise costs at the design and construction phase, our project management facilities are at the very core of our ethos to provide a high quality, professional, competitive & personalised service to our clients. Blending appropriate methodology with current technology and a robust yet flexible control and monitoring system, our costs are consistently below those of our competitors for similar sized projects.

Integrated Pollution Prevention Control (IPPC) Licensing

IPPC licenses, issued by the EPA and required by certain industrial and agricultural facilities, are intended to reduce or prevent emissions to air, water and land, reduce waste, and make better use of energy & resources. An IPPC license is a single integrated license which covers all emissions from a facility and its environmental management. Originally known as Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) licensing, the reach and scope of the regulations were expanded in 2003. Callaghan Engineering has extensive experience in the application process from pre-application enquiry to final determination.

Hazardous Area Classification & ATEX Directives consultancy

Hazardous areas are defined based on risk assessments of the industrial areas where flammable materials are processed, and the properties of the flammable materials handled within those areas, while ATEX is based on a number of EU directives intended to protect employees from explosion risk in areas with an explosive atmosphere. Callaghan Engineering has specific expertise in the interpretation and implementation of these regulations in various sectors including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and general manufacturing.

Preparation of Explosion Protection Documents (EPD's)

Part of the employer's duty under the ATEX directives, the provision of an explosion protection document is a legal requirement which involves recording the findings of a risk assessment, specification of technical or organisational measures so as to reduce the risks identified, zoning of areas, training of staff etc. Callaghan Engineering has carried out a number of EPD projects for our clients.

IT systems consultancy

Given the pervasive nature of Information Technology, our IT Systems consultancy provides expertise and assistance in all areas of IT, including solutions in networking, communications, security, backup and business continuity, license management, relocation & upgrades, and IT Strategy to name but a few.
